The Florida Burmese lay their eggs in May-June. During this time the female wraps around the eggs to guard them and also to keep them warm. She will ”twitch” to generate heat keeping the eggs at 88-90 degrees! Most clutches here in Florida hatch in July-August after a 60 day incubation time. Since they all hatch in the same few months and disperse they are relatively easy to find road hunting at night. Burmese Pythons may lay up to around 90-100 eggs. Many other animals eat them and few survive to become breeding adults as in many other reptiles. Indeed the population seems to be doing well or even increasing in Florida regardless of attempts to control the numbers.
